One of IAMFC's overriding purposes and goals is the continued professional development of its members. IAMFC provides many opportunities and resources for professional development on a wide range of subjects in the field of Marital and Family Counseling. These opportunities take the form of IAMFC sponsored events, such as the Northampton Summer Institute and The Distinguished Presenter Series at the American Counseling Association's (ACA's) annual conventions. IAMFC also offers a variety of educational/training resources in the form of videos and books related to the field of Marital and Family Counseling. IAMFC also offers members the opportunity to develop through interaction and discussion with other mental health professionals on the IAMFC listservs. IAMFC even offers national credentialing in Family Therapy through the National Credentialing Academy.
